Livestock Judging Contest

October 3, 2009

200 youth from about 35 different counties converged on the Columbia campus October 3 for the annual State Livestock Judging contest.  Seven placing classes were judged, with seniors giving 3 sets of reasons and juniors 2. 

When the scores were tabulated, the 1st place junior team was Franklin County with 2nd going to Shelby and 3rd to Vernon.  The high scoring junior division individual was
Emma Knickmeyer of Franklin County. 

In the senior division, Shelby/Ralls County team took top honors with Lawrence as second and Vernon third.  Claire Martin of Pike County captured high individual awards for the senior division.

Missouri 4-H is proud to announce the Shelby/Ralls County team will advance to National Contest in Louisville, KY in November.
